Move Better, Get Better with DNS at Korehab
You stretch. You exercise. Yet everyday movements still feel uncomfortable. It may be time to explore how you breathe, support your body, and coordinate movement.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) is a rehabilitation approach developed by Professor Pavel Kolรกล in Prague, Czech Republic. It draws on how babies learn to support themselves, roll, and crawl, applying these developmental principles to assessment and therapeutic exercise.
DNS focuses on breathing, trunk stability, and coordinated movement. Exercises may involve supported lying, hands-and-knees positions, side support, and appropriately selected resistance-band or gym-ball activities.
Who Might Consider DNS?
Following an individual assessment, DNS may form part of a programme for:
- People with persistent or recurring low back pain, particularly when bending, lifting, or everyday activities feel difficult. Clinical trials have explored DNS for chronic non-specific low back pain.
- People returning to exercise after a musculoskeletal injury, when assessment identifies a need to work on trunk control and movement coordination.
- Athletes and active individuals, including runners, golfers, and gym users, who want to practise coordinated movement as part of rehabilitation or training.
- Selected patients with neurological movement difficulties, such as cerebral palsy, under appropriately trained clinical supervision. Research in these populations remains limited.
You do not need to be fit to begin. Your diagnosis, symptoms, ability, and goals determine whether DNS is suitable and which exercises to use.

A Programme for DNS Built Around You
At Korehab Clinic, your physiotherapist guides each exercise and adjusts its difficulty as you progress. DNS may be combined with strengthening, mobility work, and other treatments to support more comfortable lifting, reaching, and returning to exercise.
Research is promising for some people with chronic low back pain, but DNS has not been established as superior to other exercise approaches for everyone.
